Conversational Design
Conversational design is an extension of UX that facilitates experiences that are conversational in nature.
In the “Age of Invisible Machines” book, Robb and Josh describe conversational design as the next phase of experience design, where the goal is often to eliminate as much friction as possible between humans and machines. There are few interfaces as frictionless as those that allow for humans to express their needs using natural language.
This doesn’t mean, however, that conversational design is limited to the words people speak or type. Conversational experiences include both linguistic and extralinguistic elements, like micro UIs and micro apps—in essence, GUIs that surface to provide relevant information or actions.
