Yoav Shoham is Google’s former Principal Scientist, a Stanford University Professor for 30 years, and a co-founder of AI21 labs. He has a rich history of working with AI technologies and thinking through some of their more profound applications. Renowned for his expertise in artificial intelligence, logic, and game theory, Yoav has a rich academic background, having earned his B.Sc. from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and completing his Ph.D. at Yale University in 1987, plus of course, reaching at Stanford for 30 years in addition to his impressive business career.
Beyond academia, Shoham is a serial entrepreneur, having founded and successfully sold several AI companies, including TradingDynamics, Katango, and Timeful. He’s also contributed to the field by co-teaching popular game theory courses on Coursera.org, impacting the learning of over half a million individuals. Additionally, he initiated the AI Index project, dedicated to monitoring advancements in AI.
