Joanna Kuc
PhD Candidate in Experimental Psychology at University College London and Data Scientist at Compass Pathways
Cutting-edge researcher exploring linguistic biomarkers in mental health.
Joanna is a PhD student in Experimental Psychology at University College London, working under the supervision of Dr Jeremy Skipper in the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences.
Her research centers on using advances in natural language processing (NLP) to analyse narrative structures of daily cognition and inner speech. The aim is to identify linguistic and vocal biomarkers of mental health and to explore how psychedelic experiences alter these. This research is crucial for understanding the relationship between language, sense of self, and well-being. An integral part of her work includes employing conversational AI and chatbots for effective descriptive experience sampling. Additionally, she is passionate about fair and explainable AI, and applying machine learning and large language models in her analysis of linguistic biomarkers.
