Dale Rankine

I have been working in the digital industry for around 14 years in various capacities, including designer, developer, entrepreneur, senior manager, evangelist and trainer. I’ve worked on mobile, web and interactive projects for companies such as Vodafone, Adobe, Nokia, MTV, Paramount Pictures, Sony Ericsson, St George Bank, Lexus, Rio Tinto, Hutchison 3, Fairfax, Suncorp, Warner Bros., Australian Government, Queensland Government, Australian Navy, Flight Centre and Wotif.com.

I’m passionate about the mobile platform and the promise it holds for the various groups that interact through it – consumers, businesses, developers – everyone. I’m equally passionate about working with the developer community to engage, educate and inspire wherever I can, through whatever means I can. I’m also keen to make sure that we’re all still having fun.

I’m currently Head of Mobile and Devices for Speedwell eBusiness Solutions in Brisbane, and am broadly responsible for mobile strategy, business and product development, as well as the overall quality of our mobile products.

In 2010-2011, I was Innovation Products Manager at Vodafone Hutchison Australia, leading a mobile product development and innovation team known as Appland. Here, I was responsible for managing the concepting and development of internal and customer-facing mobile applications and experiences across mutliple platforms, as well as engaging with the broader business on new products and business opportunities.

Prior to VHA, I was the founder and CEO of Moket – an Australian-based Flash mobile development and publishing company that was at the forefront of the business and developer ecosystems for Flash on mobile devices from 2004.

I’ve authored and presented video (DVD and online) Flash Lite training for Adobe, Lynda.com and Total Training. I’ve had the opportunity to speak at many conferences and events such as Adobe MAX, webDU, and Nokia Code Camps. I’ve been an Adobe Ambassador, Adobe Certified Instructor, Adobe User Group Manager, and am currently still a Nokia Developer Champion.
