Biamp Systems is an industry-leading designer and manufacturer of networked audio digital signal processing platforms designed for use in commercial installations. We are looking for a User Experience Architect with a generalist range of UX capabilities to help us to continue this growth as we enter the next phase of our development.

As the User Experience Architect, you are responsible for the discovery, concept definition, interaction design and specification of the User Experience for the complete range of Biamp Systems’ digital audio platforms.

You can defend your designs because they are based on fundamental research: behavioral, contextual and/or other user-centered means of capturing information from your users. You have the spark of out-of-box thinking, highly developed reasoning skills and the joy of “playing pretend” but you are serious about your work and can describe it to highly analytical-thinking engineers and analysts.

Equally important, you can speak the language of business. You recognize the importance of your work to the fundamental strategy of the company and are passionate about moving the interests of the business forward through your designs within the constraints of the strategic direction and resources of the company.

Your flair for expression is tempered by the needs of your users; your passion for creating a holistic vision is grounded in the understanding of technical constraints. You are comfortable creating a sketch on a napkin, a whiteboard, presentation software, or any number of Adobe products. You can formalize your thinking into use cases, flow charts, wire frames and specifications. Prototyping in all of its forms is your method of communication – almost any media will do, as long as it facilitates a conversation with your audience.

You appreciate the help of other team mates – whether within the product management team or engineers, analysts, program and project managers. Even as you believe design is best crafted from a single vision, you enjoy the collaborative effort, taking feedback and criticism as a means of improving the end result. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with internal and external resources to identify new market opportunities.
• Drive product definitions and requirements through research, balancing business and customer needs with competencies.
• Work with other product managers to define and develop the appropriate user interfaces of all Biamp product ranges.
• Interact with cross-functional teams, create MRDs, develop use cases, specify feature sets, establish the go-to-market strategy, and drive the product life cycle.
• Communicate product status, key issues and launch plans to key constituents across the BIAMP organization including senior management, Engineering, Sales, Operations, Marketing and Technical Support teams
• Analyze business opportunities for the best use of resources and return on investment, and present justified recommendations.
• Monitor the competitive landscape and measure product performance to identify key levers of improvement.
• Work with Marketing Communications and Sales to define and manage product launch including: positioning and market segmentation, messaging, pricing, promotion, sales strategy, customer training and support.
• Interface with Marketing Communications and Sales to guide the creation of manuals, product literature, white papers, technical presentations, and sales tools.
• Manage select products on an ongoing basis, including product line extensions and enhancements, forecasting, and related activities.
• This position requires travel (average ~25%).

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of experience design (Web, Enterprise, Application UI, Mobile, Games, Information Visualization).
• Ability to communicate (verbally and graphically), ideas, decisions and reasoning with clarity and confidence. 
• Demonstrated experience with Adobe and Microsoft products.
• Familiarity with enterprise product development.
• Knowledge and design experience with UX / IXD / UI.
• Demonstrated knowledge in UX Architecture.
• Portfolio demonstrating a range of design styles, diversity of projects, and a clear personal aesthetic.
• Must be able to work on multiple projects and prioritize tasks for each.
