Hello everyone,
A new client of ours, a service design consultancy head quartered in London, and now building their new NYC studio, have asked us to help them find some key practice-lead User Experience practitioners to help build and establish their new proposition. They are looking for a user experience research lead and a user experience design lead. Both roles will pay up to around $120k for the right people.
This studio have a great reputation in Europe, built over many years of not just building great products and experiences, but of shaping their clients understanding of what a great service or product actually is. They work with some of the largest and most complex brands in the world, to create connected experiences across multiple touch points; web, mobile, tablet, kiosk, or physical installations. They don’t do marketing or advertising, and they don’t just build whatever their clients tell them to if they know that it is not what their clients actually need.
What do they make:
The key differentiator with this studio is not so much how they engage with their clients, but when. They become involved in, and guide, conversations in the top tier of organisations on how to design and create a holistic, connected approach to customer experience, not limited to one touch point. For this process, a head of strategy will work closely with a user researcher, UX designer, and art director, to cover every angle of the strategic vision. That discovery phase will then lead to a number of design projects, spanning web, application, mobile and tablet, but with a consistent and overarching journey underpinning those projects.
How do they make it:
Post discovery and insights, the production process is very rapid and iterative. They will combine a lead on strategy, UX, research, and design, who will work very rapidly to produce sketches and concepts, lots of whiteboarding and lo-fidelity ideation, moving as quickly as possible in to prototyping as possible. The prototype allows for user testing (something the studio was founded one, beginning life 8 years as a usability consultancy), and for rapid iteration. The prototypes are refined and tested over and over, adding visuals and additional functionality, based on business and user feedback, until they are ready for build.
What are they looking for:
Right now, they need practitioners who are able to lead in a practice area; one in user research (qual and quants data collection, focus groups and workshops, distilling data and forming insights, ethnographic studies, user testing), and one in user experience design and prototyping (rapid ideation and sketching, strong Axure skills, or another prototyping tool, not afraid or unwilling to be involved in strategy conversations but then also make stuff).
Drop me a line if these roles sound interesting.
