UX Strategist / Designer -- Flypay

Flypay is a VC-backed startup aiming to transform the restaurant experience. Our core app, Flypay, aims to let customers check, split and pay their bill very rapidly, without needing any waiter interaction all at.
Our first “Powered by Flypay” app, for Burrito Mama, helps customers pre-order burritos with minimum fuss as they approach the store.
We value efficiency of a customer experience above all else, and are continually looking at how we improve and innovate around that experience.
Our core team consists of operations, design and development. We’re looking for a UX designer to work with our existing in house (front end) designer, and those working directly on product innovation, to help us create the next generations of our products.
This will involve user research (understanding and communicating the existing experiences our users have, the pain points in those experiences, and how we can improve those experiences), experience strategy (developing / refining the concept on the third gen of our core app following the launch of the second gen app in February), and developing sketches, scamps and prototypes of the concept before working with our Front End designer to execute those concepts.
You will be developing concepts that are translated across a combination of app (iOS and Android) platforms and web (our client side management tools) as we develop our product suite. Our users span both consumers and restaurant staff with very diverse needs.
We're not specifically looking for a front end designer.
We're looking for someone who can design from concept to wireframe. We’re very flexible. A range of expertises from junior to senior will be considered. We’ll want to see examples of your work and how you work.
We want someone who is great at freehand sketching, both for concepts and for potential designs.
You should be able to communicate concepts extremely well and show how they enhance the user or customer experience.
We’re looking for skill or expertise around:
- Experience strategy development
- Interaction design
- User research
- Experience of UX across app (as opposed to just web) would be preferred.
