Microsoft Surface
Microsoft Surface was introduced by Steve Ballmer today at the D5 | All Things Digital, just before the long awaited Jobs-Gates confrontation. The Microsoft Surface is not a new concept, as we’ve seen similar videos going around, but it sure takes it to another level of perspective, especially since it hits the markets in the winter of 2007.

I don’t think the product needs to be sold as much as the site tries to sell it. The marketing-speak on the video, the whole fancy Flash interface, etc… Too much wrapping around a really great present.
Granted, my connection is a big flaky today, but it’s been taking me ages to just see how this works.
This is possibly one of the most anticipated technologies around but they’re pitching it as if where another pointless Office version. You had me at “Surface is a multi-touch interface”. To clarify, the site is very competently put together, the technology is very exciting. Just don’t think that this was at all required in this case and it could even hurt the speed at which the message reaches its audience.
Here a more manageable video of the technology in action.
