Can you smell something burning?
OK, so nothing literally ‘burned’ but we did get a call late one night that our site was taking down the machine it was on and we had to do something about it ASAP. Why? Well, seems we got hit from various fronts: an article got Digged, a site that mentioned us got Digged, traffic was going up anyway, etc… Basically we had to upgrade.
Good thing then that the good folks at MediaTemple had already offered to sponsor some kick-ass hosting and we’d been in the process of migrating. More traffic is a great problem to have :)
TechCrunch had a similar experience when they posted on the Google acquisition of Writely. It also just happened to be when they posted about us (Minti). Not sure if it was a good weekend or not to be TechCrunch’ed, on one hand they receiving a lot of traffic that weekend, but on the other TechCrunch was offline for a lot of the time until they got the issue sorted.
What’s with the move to them? Because they target you’re designer wallet?
