About

The UX Magazine is a community forum dedicated to exploring, promoting, and discussing the realm of experience design. Our work dates back more than two decades (pre-dating Wikipedia’s first mention of “UX” by roughly 5 years) and we’ve charted the evolution of UX from it’s formative years—spent defining roles, articulating best practices, and persuading stakeholders—to the broader and entrenched form it takes today, having grown to encompass CX and EX. In fact, there are few organizations left that don’t have some form of experience design at the core of their operations.

As a not-for-profit organization with no membership fees, UXM has always been a collaborative publication relying on the expertise and insight of a growing family of global leaders, thinkers, and doers. Owner Robb Wilson sees the magazine as a key pillar in his efforts to make sure that technology isn’t leaving people behind. We share his belief that experience design has the power to make technology more accessible, powerful, and useful to everyone on the planet and this community shares the knowledge that has allowed the groundswell to continue expanding.

As a founder of one of the first experience design agencies (Effective UI) Robb has also used his deep understanding of both experience design and the technology behind it to create OneReach.ai—currently Gartner’s top rated platform for orchestrating conversational AI. Conversational interfaces will be a key piece of the puzzle in terms of making technology widely available to anyone who wants to leverage advanced problem solving without the friction of learning computing languages. In that sense, OneReach.ai is another pillar in Robb’s goal of democratizing technology.

A lifelong journey through experience design and into conversational AI—full of meaningful failures and laudable successes—has been chronicled in Robb’s forthcoming book from Wiley, Age of Invisible Machines: A Practical Guide to Creating a Hyperautomated Ecosystem of Intelligent Digital Workers. The third pillar in his quest, this book exists to equip anyone within any organization to begin putting conversational AI to work in meaningful ways that can bridge the gap between people and machines.

UX Magazine will continue doing its part to make sure that anyone interested can find meaningful and timely information about the maturation and implementation of the many disciplines it encompasses.

We’re always looking for more voices. Please reach out if you have something to share.
